BC Classic Marching Band Contest |
| Just as OHSAA is the
governing body for Ohio high school sports, the OMEA (Ohio Music
Education Association) is the governing body for Ohio music related
competitions. Each fall there are over a hundred OMEA judged events
throughout the state. During these events, competitive high school
marching bands strut their stuff and strive for the elusive #1 score,
which qualifies them to compete at OMEA State Marching Band finals in
late October and early November. One such qualifying event is the annual
BC Classic Marching Band Contest. The BC Classic is a fairly
large contest, which traditionally attracts over 20 of the best bands in
the state. There are usually 1000-1500 musicians and another 1000-1500
spectators. The crowd resembles a very large home football game. |
